Maui

OR - 2023

This is the story of a cat named Maui, my best friend and confidant. Maui is a rescue, the people who had him were going to take him and the litter of strays to the pound, but their daughter Ash, wanted to save the litter of kittens. She quickly found homes for them. Ash brought a little black kitten to me. She told me she had a friend that lived in Hawaii and wanted the little black kitten and the kitten needed a place to stay until they could get the money to fly him to the Hawaiian Island, Maui.

I took the kitten in, temporarily. I needed a name to call him by, so I named him Maui, because Maui was going to be his home.

Time passed, I called Ash and told her I was going to take him to be neutered and he had already had his vaccines/boosters etc. Maui was mine now. Honestly, I fell head over heels with Maui the first time we met. He brings much joy and light into my life. We have developed a special bond.

Maui likes to be wherever I am, even in the bathtub, no matter how loud I protest. LOL! He follows me everywhere, tells me when it’s time for bed or if someone is at the door, he will come get me. Maui loves to carry on a conversation with anyone who will talk to him. He is leash trained and loves to find a quiet spot to lay in the sun when he is tired of walking. Maui even knows how to sit for treats.

I have had Maui since he was a baby kitten and he is now 15 yrs old. He's my absolute best friend!

Maui was just diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and needs to take medication 2x per day. He needs several visits to the vet for lab work in order to stabilize his medication. The grant Maui received from Brown Dog Foundation will help us accomplish this and save his life!

I am disabled and on a limited income. I just don't have the money to complete all the vet appt's for labs to get his medication regulated. Maui and I are beyond grateful for this help! Thank you all for the grant & helping Maui to live out his elder years with me. You Rock!!

Thank you Brown Dog Foundation, and all the Donors and Volunteers, who make saving animals’ lives possible!!
