Gus

National, TN - 2013

Hello! My name is Gus. I am a Jack Russell Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrorist, depending on who you ask. I was born in February, the day before Groundhog day, and I am 16 years old. When I was a puppy, I was scared of shadows, even my own! I guess it’s a good thing I’m not a groundhog! My parents got me when I was still just a pup, I was living in someone’s garage in a crate for heaven’s sake!! That’s certainly no way to treat the “family pet”!

That family couldn’t keep up with me, and that’s how I got to my “for real” parents. I’ve had my Mom wrapped around my little paw since day one, but don’t tell her I said that! I am an educated dog… my Mom and I are certified in Dog Obedience, from Volunteer State Community College. My Mom says I’m bone-a-fide! My Dad taught me how to howl, so now when we hear a siren we all howl! I didn’t have to go to college for that one. My Dad and I used to “play wrestle” a lot when I was a puppy, but now I prefer to lay in his lap. My Dad says that I am man’s best friend! I have many nicknames but “Gus the Wonder Dog” is one of my favorites. I’ve also been neutered, if you must be so personal! My parents insisted on it, they said it was important, so who am I to argue? Back to the story at paw…I recently have been sick as a dog, and my parents didn’t have enough money for my care.

They applied to Brown Dog Foundation. With their help my parents were able to get the care that I needed. No one is happier than I am about that, but my parents are a very close second!! We could never say thank you enough to those who helped in our time of need, but we feel the best way is for us to do so is to “pay it forward” when we can. Our deepest gratitude for those whom have contributed to such a worthy cause... Brown Dog Foundation!

Sincerely,

Gus and his “for real” parents, Teena & Michael McGhee
