Dewey

National, MI - 2014

A little over a year ago, I adopted Dewey. His previous owner had found him in a drug addicts house. She told me he was kicked around and called "rat". The owners neglected him and the other various animals in the home. He was matted, most likely never brushed or bathed. His ears and eyes were incredibly infected and his teeth were almost all rotten. The vet said "he was on deaths door". It took her awhile but she got him to trust her enough to eat. In the course of the 9 months or so she had Dewey, she had all of the infections taken care of except the teeth.

Some circumstance caused her to need to give Dewey to a good home. Since that fateful day, he has been the light of my life. I never imagined I could love something so much! After I adopted him I learned almost all if his teeth were rotten. I took him to the vet and they pulled them all but the canines. He was doing great for almost a year and suddenly the (REALLY) bad breath started again. I was also noticing him sleeping and hiding frequently, so I took him to the vet. They told me all 4 of the teeth he had left were rotten and would have to be removed. I am currently on disability due to a neck surgery and could not afford the amount of money I was quoted.

After some research, I ran across The Brown Dog foundation. They agreed to bridge the gap in the bill. I put $100 towards the bill and they covered the rest! Thankfully, there are still generous and caring people in the world. Dewey is now recovering and doing great! He is more spunky than ever and loving life without pain.

Dewey's treatment was made possible through the generosity and kindness of the friends and family honoring Shorty & Heyroad.
