When Kimberly of Omaha, Nebraska first met Vinny, he was a seven-month-old Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix living with her dear friend John. Dubbed John’s “good luck charm,” Vinny delighted everyone he met and enjoyed more than a decade with his owner until John passed away in 2021.

Kimberly immediately took over the role as Vinny’s mom. “My life would not be the same without Vinny,” shares Kimberly. “He has the best personality and he doesn’t know he is small. He loves to sleep under the covers and if he can’t get in the covers he will get into a pillow case or a dish towel. He’s a true friend, great protector and an awesome loving pet.”

As happens to many in older age, Vinny’s teeth began to present a painful and life-threatening infection for him and he needed to have them removed. Kimberly began to research grants and foundations that could help Vinny, but it wasn’t until she discovered Brown Dog Foundation that relief finally came.

“Brown Dog Foundation was truly the answer to Vinny’s health,” said Kimberly. “They were willing to help so Vinny could have the best retirement life ever while I get to have much more time with my best little boy. It broke my heart seeing Vinny in so much pain, and I felt ashamed not being able to help him because I didn’t have the means.”

Today, Vinny is thriving on his soft diet and Kimberly still has her best buddy. “Brown Dog Foundation is the loving, caring help we both needed, and I hope one day I am able to give back to you for all your help,” she said.” I will never forget the kindness you extended to Vinny and me.”
