Shiloh
as told by his daddy

I came to know Brown Dog Foundation through an ad I saw in the Nashville Scene. I wanted to help animals, and BDF sounded like a great way to do it. The first year, I began as a committee volunteer, then realized I could best help by becoming a fundraiser. So, we were nominated for the Top Dog campaign and off we went! It was my first time as a fundraiser, but we managed to finish a close second in fundraising for BDF - Shiloh was crowned Runner Up for Top Dog!

When I saw how much money we'd all raised together, I knew BDF would profoundly affect pet owners in Nashville in a very positive way, but I never imagined how much they would come to mean to me and Shiloh. In 2009, Dr. Frank Harris found a fatty tumor on Shiloh's side. As the tumor grew in size, I knew I would have to have the tumor removed, but due to cutbacks at work because of the economy, I was hesitant to spend the money without first saving for it.

Then, in February 2010, I lost my job, and the simple operation which would help Shiloh was now out of reach for us. I turned to BDF, the very Foundation I'd committed myself to helping, and asked their Grant Committee for help. They generously approved my application, and I was overjoyed! Now, Shiloh can have the operation he needs to assure him a second chance at a quality life!

Funding for this case made possible through the Adopt A Family Program and DeAna Janco.  Her generosity made this gift possible.  To learn more about Adopt A Family, visit www.BrownDogFoundation.org/adopt-a-family.

UPDATE, 3/8/2010:  Shiloh had surgery today and is now home recovering.
