Mac

NY - 2020

Mac came into our lives three years ago this past August. One day I was browsing the shelters adoptable dogs and saw Mac and knew we just had to meet him. The next day my daughter, Dani, and I went to the shelter and were able to meet Mac. They brought him into the meet and greet room and he walked right up to Dani and gave her a big lick on the cheek and made her laugh so hard, and we both knew he was just meant to be a part of our family.

Fast forward to this year a lot of crazy and unexpected things have occurred. Earlier this year Mac had a cancerous growth removed and came out of it and was able to recover better than ever. Then the pandemic began. I was laid off from my job and was living off unemployment just trying to make ends meet. Over the summer my restaurant reopened and I was able to work again, but since then the COVID numbers have risen back up I was laid off for the second time.

At some point during the first week of December I noticed Mac had a tooth that was cracked and swollen around the gum line. I took him to the vet and they explained that Mac had a slab fracture and an infection and the only way he would get better is if he had the tooth extracted.

Since I am currently living off unemployment, money is tight, and there is no way I would be able to afford this procedure. I was looking up foundations who could help me during this time and I found Brown Dog Foundation. This foundation generously donated towards Macs procedure and because of them, Mac is able to stay a part of our family.

I personally want to thank the donors and Brown Dog Foundation themselves for being so generous to my family and I during this time of need. Once we are back in a financially stable setting we will be paying it forward.

Thank you so much.
