TN - 2008

In July of 2008, the same day we returned home from our honeymoon, Bella was hit by a car. Her right, back leg was a shattered and mangled mess.

Having rescued her from a shelter in 2006, I had no medical history nor an exact age she was at the time of her accident. We saw three separate veterinarians, all recommended either a super invasive “temporary” fix, but all said euthanizing her was for the best.

We literally had her in the car to put her down when we got a phone call from a family friend. He recommended one more place to try. South side animal hospital, saw Bella and recommended amputation.

Having just moved to Nashville after graduating college and weeks of being married; we were not able to afford the projected amount for her surgery and treatment.

Brown Dog Foundation stepped in and paid the majority of her bill. We worked really hard to get our girl back up and going. And I am so eternally grateful to say that Bella had an incredible 10 more years with us. She was blessed with a full house (3 boys in 5 years) and she loved every single second.

No one in our house ever cried a single tear without her furry head catching them. No food was left un-sniffed, and no one went without Bella snuggles.

We had to say goodbye to our sweet girl on Thursday and we all are broken-hearted. I will forever be grateful for all this extra time with my sweet, furry girl.
